FAQs

Dr Jakic Acupuncture and Fertility prides itself in providing the best standard of care for our patients at all times.

Empirical data show that the best treatment outcomes, apart from early intervention and the level of commitment, are in direct proportion to the frequency and the number of treatments. This notion has been applied in our day-to-day practice and is reflected in the formulation of Individual Wellbeing Treatment Plans tailored to each patient. At the consultation:

  1. The patient is examined using Chinese Medicine principles and a holistic approach
  2. The Chinese Medical diagnosis is established and explained to the patient in detail
  3. A plan is formulated to address uncovered issues
  4. The Individual Wellbeing Treatment Plan is proposed and explained to the patient.

The proposed length and frequency of treatment depends on the following factors:

  • The nature and severity of the medical complaint (acute or chronic),
  • The patient’s general health condition (assessed as per Chinese Medicine
    criteria),
  • The age and the level of physical activity,
  • Demands affecting health as a result of the nature of one’s professional,
    dietary and life-style practices, and
  • The perceived level of stress.

Whilst some acute problems may require 5-15 acupuncture treatments plus herbal medicines, other, chronic problems can only be addressed over a longer period of time (3 months or longer).

To track patient progress, monthly reassessments are performed and charted on the Patient Progress Graph Chart (see below for an example). What we expect to see is a steady improvement in all patient symptoms and signs over the time of the treatment.

Notes

Dr Jakic Acupuncture and Fertility maintains the right to advise a patient against continuing the course of treatments on the ground of non-compliance with the proposed Individual Wellbeing Treatment Plan or if there is a clear indication, confirmed at the re-assessment consultation, that the improvement gained during the treatment course is insignificant. With patient consent, an appropriate referral for further follow- up will be made. Any specific individual queries are discussed and (if needed) resolved in a timely manner.
